International Exchange for S&T Professionals · Thematic Event on Artificial Intelligence Is Successfully Concluded in Hong Kong
On December 11-12, the International Exchange for S&T Professionals · Thematic Event on Artificial Intelligence, hosted by China Association for International Exchange of Personnel (CAIEP), jointly organized by Shenzhen Center for International Exchange of Personnel (SCIEP), the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), and the Hong Kong Young Scientist Association (HKYSA), was successfully concluded in Hong Kong. Changlin Gao, General Manager of Beijing-Hong Kong Exchange of Personnel Centre., Christopher Chao, Vice President (Research and Innovation) and Director of Policy Research Centre for Innovation and Technology, of PolyU, Huilai Li, Deputy Director of Hetao Development Authority , and Hai Li, Director-General of SCIEP, attended the opening ceremony.
At this event, high-level experts and scholars, youth sci-tech talents, and enterprise representatives from China, Germany, Spain, UK and other countries gathered together to have in-depth discussions on the innovative concepts and practical experience in the AI field, focusing on the goals of high-tech frontiers, high-performance applications, and high-quality development. Keynote speeches and roundtable discussions were held in conjunction with the opening ceremony, moderated by Chengqi Zhang, Chair Professor of Artificial Intelligence, Department of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, PolyU. Keynote speakers included Marco Aiello, Professor of Computer Science, University of Stuttgart, Germany, Jiannong Cao, Otto Poon Charitable Foundation Professor in Data Science, Chair Professor of Distributed and Mobile Computing, and Director of Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Things, PolyU, Petia Radeva, Full Professor of Universitat de Barcelona (UB), Spain, Yanlong Tai, Research Fellow at Key Laboratory of Medical Imaging and Technology System, Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Michael Opoku Agyeman, Professor of Computer Engineering, Founder and Director of Centre for Advanced and Smart Technologies, University of Northampton, UK, Hongxia Yang, Professor of Department of Computing, PolyU, and Javaid Butt, Professor of Manufacturing and Product Design, Birmingham City University, UK. They delivered fascinating speeches on topics including paradigm shift in AI research, collaborative edge computing, data training for neural network, flexible biointerfacial sensor, algorithm visualization, collaboration and evolution of foundation and specialized models, and application of AI and digital twin in smart manufacturing. They also shared the latest research results and innovative insights in respective fields, stimulating heated discussions and lively reflections.
During the event, the participating guests visited the Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Things (RIAIoT) and the Research Centre on Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (RC-DASI) at PolyU, Hong Kong Industrial Artificial Intelligence & Robotics Centre (FLAIR), and SmartMore Corporation Limited, enhancing the knowledge and understanding of the research strength and industrial application in the AI field in Hong Kong, and the sci-tech innovation environment of the Greater Bay Area.
