November 1 this year marks the 8th Shenzhen Talent Day. On the afternoon of November 1, the 2024 Shenzhen Global Innovation Forum of Talents, guided by the Shenzhen Municipal Talent Affairs Bureau and hosted by the Shenzhen Center for International Exchange of Personnel (SCIEP), was successfully concluded at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center.

Under the theme of “Insight, Progress, Opportunity”, this year’s forum extended to two days with six sessions, featuring the main forum, thematic forum, exhibition & matchmaking, exchange & discussion, talent recruitment, and on-site visits. Over 300 guests attended the forum, including leaders from the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee and Shenzhen Municipal Government, academicians, youth scientists, corporate talents, educational talents, overseas alumni association talents, skilled talents, as well as colleagues from talent development departments of cities within the Greater Bay Area and neighboring cities, such as Shanwei, Heyuan, and Chaozhou. The forum was broadcasted live online to share the insightful speeches of the keynote speakers to global audiences.

Moderated by Carol YU, Associate Dean of Shenzhen InnoX Academy and Young Global Leader recognized by the World Economic Forum, the main forum invited ten distinguished guests, including Jianping Fan, President of Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology, Founding Dean of Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Fellow of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences, Jian Lin, Fellow of the Academia Europaea, Dean and Chair Professor of the AIOR SUSTech, Steve S. Hoffman, Founder of the renowned Silicon Valley incubator FOUNDERS SPACE and angel investor, Yongkui Sun, Member of the National Academy of Engineering, Chairman of Ionova Life Science, Visiting Professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Guoping Zhou, Director of Shenzhen Pingshan Library, renowned contemporary philosopher, writer, and scholar, to deliver keynote speeches, offering a feast of brilliant thoughts.

Featuring a roundtable discussion under the theme of “Believe It, Achieve it”, this year’s forum invited talents in S&T and automotive fields, including Jason Ho Kin Tung, President of the Macau Technology General Association and Co-founder of BEYOND Expo, Heping Ling, Deputy Dean of the Automotive Engineering Research Institute of BYD Auto Industry Co., Ltd., and Guang Zhou, CEO of DeepRoute.ai, to share their personal growth stories and delve into innovative insights, highlighting Shenzhen’s achievements in talent innovation, artificial intelligence, and renewable energy. Adding a touch of athletic prowess and inspiration, Liuyi Wang and Qianyi Wang were invited to share their remarkable stories with Carol YU. As athletes cultivated in Shenzhen, the twin sisters won Team Champion and Pairs Champion of synchronized swimming at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Shenzhen University International Choir also graced the stage with captivating renditions of Oriental Dream and You Raise Me Up.

Talents gather to co-build Shenzhen’s future glory with boundless wisdom. Over the years, Shenzhen has steadfastly upheld the principle of governing talents by the Party, fully implemented the strategy of reinvigorating China through human resource development, and set sights globally to benchmark against first-class standards. With an open attitude and inclusive spirit, Shenzhen has attracted a diverse array of talents from around the world. Currently, Shenzhen’s talent pool exceeds 6.98 million talents, including 26,000 high-level talents, and over 200,000 returnees from overseas.
