Hosted by the Shenzhen Enterprise Innovation and Development Promotion Association (SECDC), organized by the Shenzhen Center for International Exchange of Personnel (SCIEP), the Cross-border Collision and Guidance for Innovation - Top Wisdom - Industry Leaders Dialogue was successfully held in the Cloud Park International Conference Center of Shenzhen Guangming District on April 28. With the aim to build a platform for in-depth exchanges between Nobel laureates and industry leaders, the dialogue provided an opportunity for participants to share the latest achievements in technological innovation, the industrial development trends and prospects, and to envision a future of integrating technological progress with businesses.

A Gathering of Nobel Laureates and Industry Leaders in Shenzhen: Embracing Innovation and Cooperation

The dialogue was moderated by Mr. Zhou Yaoqi, researcher and Vice President of Shenzhen Bay Laboratory, five world-renowned Nobel laureates and foreign academicians were invited to the dialogue, including Michael Levitt, the 2013 Noble laureate in chemistry, George Fitzgerald Smoot, the 2006 Nobel laureate in physics, Asoke Kumar Nandi, fellow of the Royal Society, Rodrigo Martins, member of the Academy of Sciences of Portugal, and Rachid Yazami, member of the Hassan II Academy of Science and Technology of Morocco. The Nobel laureates conducted extensive interactions and exchanges with representatives of leading enterprises and industry leaders on various topics regarding bio-pharmaceutical industry development, intelligent manufacturing and innovation, science and technologies in cutting-edge materials, new energy and sustainable development, and business innovation, etc.

Roundtable Salon for Minds Collision: Building a High-level Platform for Exchanges on Innovation

The dialogue was conducted in the form of roundtable salon, by sessions of moderator-guest speaker dialogues, specific area discussions, and guest speaker-business representative interactions, the dialogue enabled the Nobel laureates and foreign academicians to exchange with industry leaders and entrepreneurs, introduced the most updated technological innovation and industrial development results, major current issues and future trends, and explored new modes of integrating technological progress with businesses, thus providing intelligence to the innovative development and developing new quality productive forces. After the dialogue, the SECDC held a dinner party for all the participants to have further exchanges and interactions.

Sailing with Scientific and Technological Innovation: Embarking on a New Journey under the Guidance of SECDC

On behalf of the host, Mr. Zhang Xiaolin, Secretary-General of the SECDC, delivered a keynote speech. As an ardent advocate for innovation in the National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone of Shenzhen, the SECDC is committed to providing guidance to its business members in creating innovation and strengthening soft power based on the principle of “carrying forward the innovation spirit, encouraging innovative practices and promoting development with innovation”. With this dialogue as a starting point, the SECDC will make continuous efforts to hold high-level academic salons and other activities.
