From April 14th to 15th, the 17th Conference on International Exchange of Professionals (CIEP) will be held in Shenzhen. It is understood that a parallel session will be set in Zhuhai for the first time, which will showcase Zhuhai’s economic and technological innovation development plans and talent introduction policies.

CIEP is the only conference in China specilized for foreign expert organizations, training institutions, and professionals. It is a national-level, international, and comprehensive event for talent and intelligence exchange, with a large scale and at a high standard. The director of the organizing committee of the conference said, “A parallel session will be set in Zhuhai for the first time. It will use Zhuhai’s special location and policy advantages to vigorously promote the organic integration of talents and innovation and industry, and build a more accurate and effective platform for talent matching.” 

◆ Matching with International Advanced Platforms and Embracing Global Innovation Power 

The activities of this year‘s new parallel session will be held in Shenzhen and Zhuhai from the 15th to the 17th. At that time, Zhuhai will set up a booth in Hall 1 of the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center, using the three-dimensional representation of “Static Graphic + Dynamic Performance” to showcase Zhuhai’s economic development plans, scientific and technological innovation plans and projects, achievements of intelligence introduction, and research institutions, and talent policies. 

At the “A Date with Zhuhai” reception for Chinese and foreign guests of the 17th CIEP, under the theme of “Trust, Incentive, and Integrity”, Zhuhai will focus on the good environment for talents and industrial development, and show the advantages such as the superior geographical conditions, good industrial support, and flexible talent and industrial policies.

At the same time, Zhuhai will also hold an investigation on the innovation, entrepreneurship, and investment environment, and invite about 50 projects of the Sino-Italy and Sino-US entrepreneurial competitions for display and exchange, which cover digital economy and cultural creativity, intelligent equipment, new materials and other fields. Overseas talents can match and have in-depth exchange with well-known enterprises and investment and financing institutions in Zhuhai. This will promote the transformation of projects and scientific and technological achievements, strengthen international innovation cooperation, and enhance Zhuhai's international influence.

◆ Gathering Global Advanced Talents and Seizing the Innovation Highland of the Greater Bay Area

Talent introduction for a city is a systematic project. In recent years, Zhuhai has always adhered to the Party’s management of talents, explored breakthroughs in the mechanism of talent introduction, and built a work pattern in which talents lead development. Zhuhai explores breakthroughs in promoting the integration of talents in Zhuhai and Macao, promotes the moderate and diversified development of Macao’s economy, and adheres to openness and leadership. Zhuhai explores breakthroughs in talent introduction and builds a first-class talent development environment. Zhuhai has gathered a group of internationally leading scientific and technological talents and innovative teams, and the effect of “talent reservoir” has been highlighted.

In last April, Zhuhai launched the most optimized new talent policy “Zhuhai Talents Program”, focusing on building a more active, more open, and more effective talent policy system, accelerating the gathering of outstanding talents and innovative entrepreneurial teams at home and abroad, and building an international talent highland, to provide strong talent support and intellectual guarantee for a new round of development in Zhuhai.

In recent years, Zhuhai has promoted facilitation measures, such as Hong Kong and Macao talent tax subsidies and overseas talents immigration policies, and established a talent management and service guarantee system that meets international standards. Zhuhai has also expanded the cross-border vocational qualification access and the scope of mutual recognition of professional qualifications, realizing the free flow of talents between Zhuhai and Macao.

As one of the important gateways and hubs of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Zhuhai has adhered to the idea of prioritizing talent development, broadened the way of talent introduction, gathered talents for he construction of the “important gateway and hub of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the core city on the west bank of the Pearl River Estuary, and the example of quality development in the coastal economic zone”, and cultivated the talent advantage of Zhuhai.

With a good platform built, talents will come. Up to now, the total number of talents in Zhuhai has exceeded 500,000, with 25 flexibly introduced academicians and 7 academician workstations. The number of experts  that have been trained or introduced under national and provincial key talent programs has exceeded 200, ranking the forefront of prefecture-level cities.

Besides, Zhuhai selected 416 high-level talents of the city, 1044 young outstanding talents, and 45 innovative and entrepreneurial teams of the city. It has attracted more than 8,000 returned overseas students, who have established more than 450 companies, which is a high level among prefecture-level cities across the country. There are more than 4,000 doctors and more than 19,000 masters working in Zhuhai.154 people have been trained in postdoctoral study.
